Felicidades Samurái Ljubicic, ¡divinos dobles! / Congratulations Ljubicic’s samurai. Divine doubles!

Este Post va dirigido a la modalidad de dobles y a su importancia, tan bien expresada por Rafael Nadal: “Aunque sea en dobles, ganar me hace mucha ilusión. Especialmente para mí, interiormente, terminar ganando un torneo es importante”. Esta semana sólo se han aprovechado de sus innumerables beneficios los españoles Nadal/López, Ventura/Marrero y Coll/Granollers.

Pero antes de seguir con lo del dobles hay que hacer un paréntesis y felicitar al Campeón Individual de Indian Wells 2010: el Samurái Ljubicic. A sus 31 años se ha alzado con su primer ATP Máster 1000, después de intentarlo en tres finales anteriores. Sus diez días en estado de gracia (sólo en la final 21 aces) han resultado increíbles y ha vencido, nada más y nada menos que, a tres jugadores a los que actualmente se les otorga los títulos de Rey, Príncipe y Barón.

Seguimos con el dobles. Si analizamos las palabras de Rafa hablando de la importancia que tiene para él acabar la semana ganando y levantando un trofeo, encontramos el primero de los muchos puntos positivos que tiene disputar esta modalidad como si de individuales se tratase. Desgraciadamente, parece que está mal visto jugarlos a la máxima intensidad.

Como mencionaba en el primer párrafo, Nadal y López lo han experimentado esta semana ganando un Máster 1000. ¡Quién se lo habría dicho al Bolet! Enhorabuena. Por otra parte, Santi Ventura y Marrero lo han vivido ganando el Challenger de Caltanissetta y, por último, Nacho Coll y Gerard Granollers en el Future de Badalona. Además, éstos últimos llevan dos semanas seguidas sabiendo lo que es acabar la semana ganando. Es la cuarta corona en dobles para Nacho en lo que va de año. Enhorabuena. ¡Que siga la racha en Zaragoza donde defendéis título!

Quiero mencionar también a jugadores como Marcel Granollers, quien debutó con una merecida victoria en la Copa Davis (llevaba ganados 30 torneos ATP entre Grand Prix, Challengers y Futures) y Agustín Boje, que también lleva una docena de Futures ATP ganados en dobles.

Enhorabuena por las semifinales individuales de esta semana en Portugal, Bigote.

No podemos seguir hablando de dobles sin mencionar a la mejor pareja española de todos los tiempos y de las mejores del mundo. Estamos hablando de la formada por Emilio Sánchez y Sergio Casal. Me parece buena idea a repasar el manual de dobles del curso de Coach de competición impartido en su academia para recordar algunos de sus beneficios:

• Juego en equipo, provechoso como persona y jugador.



• Enseña a respetar, compartir y a pensar en plural.



• Técnicamente te obliga a mejorar; carreras hacia delante, voleas, reflejos, restos,...



• Alarga los torneos, compites y entrenas con más tensión.

Sobre todo lo que estamos hablando tienen un papel importante los entrenadores o los coaches. Ellos son los que deben involucrarse y saber explicar a los jugadores la importancia del dobles. No por ganar algunos partidos en individual se tiene que descuidar esta práctica. William “Pato” Álvarez, artífice de la pareja Sánchez-Casal, es un ejemplo.

Especially for me, inwardly, it is very important to finish a tournament that I’ve won. This week, these Spanish players (Nadal/López, Ventura/Marrero and Coll/Granollers) only have enjoyed the countless benefits.
But before explaining the doubles, we have also to remark about the Indian Wells Individual Champion 2010: the Ljubicic’s samurai. Congratulations! He has won at the age of 31 years old his first ATP Master 1000, after trying on three previous final. His ten days of grace state (only 21 aces yesterday) have been incredible and has won, nothing more and nothing less, three players who currently have the titles of King, Prince and Baron.
So, we carry on explaining the doubles. If we analyze Rafa’s words talking about how important its is for him to finish the week with a victory and to raise a trophy, we find the first of many positive points that this modality has as if they were playing singles matches. Unfortunately, it seems that is frowned upon to play them with a high intensity.
As I’ve said in the first paragraph, Nadal and López have lived this fact this week, because they won a Master 1000. Who would have told you, Bolet! Congratulations. In the other hand, Santi Ventura and Marrero have lived this fact when they won the Caltanissetta Challenger and, finally, Nacho Coll and Gerard Granollers at the Badalona’s Future. Moreover, in two weeks, they know how is to win at the end of the week. It is the fourth victory for Nacho at this year. Congratulations. So, carry on playing like that in Zaragoza where you fight for this title!
Also, I want to mention some players like Marcel Granollers, who makes his debut with a deserved victory in the Davis Cup (he won 30 tournaments among ATP, Grand Prix, Challengers and Futures). Another one is Agustín Boje, who has also dozen ATP Futures won in doubles. Congratulations “Bigote” for the singles semifinal of this week in Portugal.
We can’t carry on talking about doubles without mentioning the best Spanish couple of the history and of the world. We’re talking about Emilio Sánchez and Sergio Casal. I think that it’s a good idea to check doubles manual of the coach course taught at his academy. So, we’re going to remember some of his benefits:

  It teaches you how to respect, share and think commonly.

  Technically, it forces you to improve on running to the front, smashes, reflexes…

  It prolongs the tournaments; you compete and train with more strain.
  

Above all, with this fact, trainers and coaches have a very important roll. They are who get involved in this and they have to explain the importance of doubles to players.
