Barón Roddick a las puertas de Príncipe ATP. Felicidades Javier Marti, Nacho coll y Gerad Granollers / Roddick Baron near the ATP Prince

Felicitar al Barón roddick por su gran triunfo en el ATP Master 1000 de Miami, por el excelente nivel de juego exhibido durante los diez días de campeonato y por el buen inicio de temporada que esta llevando y que le sitúa en el trampolín lanzadera a otorgarle de nuevo como hace unos años con la corona de Príncipe ATP junto a Murray y Djokovic.

Es un placer cada semana poder felicitar a alguno de los Former Players Passion Talent Group en este caso a Javier Martí que actualmente trabaja en la Federación de tenis Madrid a las ordenes de mi compañero de tertulias de coaches Oscar Burrieza y a Nacho Coll que esta entrenando desde hace unos meses en el Real Club Tenis Barcelona.

Al primero felicitarle por su primera final de individuales en un Future ATP concretamente en Croacia. El nivel de juego de Javi durante toda esta semana ha sido muy bueno de hecho llegó a la final sin perder un set y con buenas victorias sobre jugadores más experimentados que él. Este resultado me alegra mucho principalmente por Javi, por todo el peso y la presión que supone desde muy pequeñito el crear las expectativas que creó y que crea y seguir afrontándolo por difícil que sea, sin arrojar la toalla. “Javi quieres ser un gran tenista y este es tu gran tesoro, esto te obligará a superar todas las adversidades hasta lograrlo, ánimo Campeón”. En segundo lugar a su padre “Koki” Martí, de quién aprendí mucho el tiempo que compartí con el la formación deportiva de su hijo. Y en tercer lugar a “Burri” desearle que siga con esta necesidad de superar retos como el que afrontó de manera espectacular con su rodilla en su etapa de jugador.

A Nacho Coll felicitarle nuevamente por otra victoria más en un Future ATP de dobles en esta ocasión en el Future de Turquía y como viene siendo habitual junto con uno de sus partner frecuentes de dobles y de trabajo a diario Gerad Granollers, al que también hay que felicitarle por su final en individuales en el mismo torneo superando y afrontando día a día doble presión. Una la que supone tener un hermano mayor consolidado como tenista y la obligación de puntuar en un Future como el de Turquía al que cuesta dinero desplazarse y en el que sabes que a lo que vas es a ello, a puntuar. Con esta nueva victoria “Natx” y “Jerru” levantan su quinta copa de dobles en futures ATP en lo que va de año. Ánimo, que vuestro esfuerzo y constancia en esta modalidad va a dar sus frutos sí o sí. Suerte para la siguiente semana en Turquía, luchadores.

Durante el fin de semana nuevamente aproveché para ojear el nivel de los Juniors, en esta ocasión en el ITF Júnior de Ribarroja en Valencia aprovechando la invitación de mi buen amigo Juanjo Cabrera, Director del torneo y que mi amigo Javier Fernández de Planificaciones Sports Managament (PSM), un joven Proyecto del cual también tengo el placer de colaborar, debía desplazarse de Marbella (sede de PSM en donde yo me encontraba) hasta Ribarroja para acompañar a Manuel Lamelas “Manu” joven promesa Leonesa a jugar la previa del ITF.

Si la semana pasada me sorprendió el trato recibido y que dispensaban a todos los participantes en el ITF Júnior de Benicarló y el tesoro que supone para el tenis español disponer de una red de organizadores de torneos como los de Benicarló, este fin de semana me quedé aún más sorprendido con el trato, la organización, la cantidad de voluntarios y comprobar como todos los del Club de Tenis el Collado viven el ITF Júnior como una gran fiesta e intentan facilitar todos los medios posibles a la gente de varios rincones del planeta que por allí pasan para se lleven una agradable impresión del torneo. Impresionante el tiempo y cariño que le dedica todo la gente del Club, encabezados por Juanjo Cabrera creador del jugador Pablo Andújar con quien se recorrió un gran número de torneos ITF juniors alrededor del mundo y que pretende unificar estos ITF Juniors de la Comunidad Valenciana en un único pero inmejorable circuito.

Se me pasó en el último post, pero al enterarme de la victoria del joven catalán Pere Riba en el Challenger de Barleta de la semana pasada me alegré, coincidí bastante con él en su etapa de Futures y siempre me sorprendió la importancia que le presto a pedir información a la gente y entrenadores que creía que le podía aportar consejos sobre aspectos que le ayudasen a convertirse en mejor jugador o que le podían facilitar ganar a su próximo rival.

También recordé la fabulosa semana que en el año 2003 me pasé acompañando a Rafa Nadal en este Challenger , el primero que ganó, con tan solo 16 años. Venció a Ruben Ramirez, Martin Vassallo, Albert Montañes, al alemán Berhend y al Catalán Albert Portas en la final, casi nada. Increíble Rafa, como vivías cada partido convencido que lo podías ganar, aún recuerdo en la presentación antes de empezar la gran final. La concentración tuya dando saltitos a lo Rocky con la mirada fija, transmitiendo una concentración que causaba estragos en tu adversario.

I want to congratulate Roddick Baron for his great victory in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Miami, because he made an excellent level of play during the ten-day championship. Also, he made a good season’s start that puts him to the top of the ranking and gives him, as in recent years, the crown of ATP Prince with Murray and Djokovic.

It is a pleasure for me every week to congratulate any of the Former Players Passion Talent Group. In this particular case, I want to congratulate Javier Martí who is currently working at the Madrid Tennis Federation whose boss is Oscar Burrieza, my fellow coaches’ get-togethers. And also to Nacho Coll who was training for a few months in Real Club Tenis Barcelona.

The first for congratulating him is for his first single final in the ATP Future in Croatia. The level of play of Javi during all these week has been very good and he reached to the final without dropping a set and with good victories over more experienced players than him. I’m happy with this result and also for Javi, because he had lot of pressure when he was a small boy in creating the expectations created. And now he carries on creating them and facing them, without giving up. “Javi, I know that you want to be a good tennis player and this is your favourite treasure. So, this will force you to overcome all the adversities to achieve them. Cheer up!”.

Secondly, I want to congratulate his father “Koki” Martí who I learned a lot, because I shared the sport education of his son.

And thirdly, to “Burri”, because I want to say to him that he has to continue with this need to overcome challenges such as the one that faced in a spectacular way with his knee in his period of player.

I want to congratulate Nacho Coll again for other victory in the ATP doubles Future. This time was in Turkey Futures and he obtained this victory with his doubles partner, Gerard Granollers. I want to congratulate him for his single final at the same tournament, because he overcame it and faced it every day with a double pressure. What I want to say with double pressure is that he has an older brother who is a consolidated tennis player and the other one is that he scored in a Future that it costs money to move to this place and you know that your goal is to score. With this new victory, “Natx” and “Jerru” have their fifth cup in ATP doubles Futures during all this year. Cheer up! Your effort and your perseverance in this modality will gain victories. During the weekend, I took the advantage of having a look at the level of Juniors, in this occasion in Junior ITF of Ribarroja (Valencia, Spain). I was invited by Juanjo Cabrera, the principal of this tournament and Javier Fernandez was invited too. Javier Fernandez is my friend of Sports Management Planning (SMP), a recent project which also I have the pleasure to collaborate with it. He had to move from Marbella, where is the headquarters of SMP, to Ribarroja for meeting Manuel Lamelas, called “Manu” for playing the ITF previous. “Manu” is a young up-and-coming talent of León (Spain).

I was surprised last week for the treatment received and also for the treatment that the participants in Junior ITF received in Benicarló (Spain). Also I have to say that Spanish tennis has a treasure, because it has good organizers of tournaments like those of Benicarló. I get more surprised this weekend with the treatment, the organization, the number of volunteers and I’ve checked that all the members of Collado Tennis Club live the Junior ITF like a big party and they try to facilitate different means to people from different parts of the world that go there and have a good impression of the tournament.

It’s awesome the time and the care that spent all the people of the Club leaded by Juanjo Cabrero, who discovered Pablo Andujar with whom he made a number of Juniors tournaments ITF around the world and he wants to unify these Juniors ITF in an extraordinary circuit in the autonomous region of Valencia.

I didn’t mention in my last post that I was glad for the victory of the young Catalan, Pere Riba, in the Barleta Challenger of the last week. I met quite a lot with him in his period of Futures and I was always surprised for his attention for asking for information or advice to people and coaches. So, these advices can help him to become a better player or make some strategies to win his next opponent.

At the same time, I also remembered the fabulous week that I spent in 2003 with Rafa Nadal in this Challenger, which was the first that won with only 16 years old. He beat Ruben Ramirez, Martín Vassallo, Albert Montañes, the German, Berhend and the Catalan, Albert Portas in the final. Hardly anything… Rafa, it was incredible how you lived every match convinced that you could win. Before starting the big final, I still remember in the presentation that your concentration was making small jumps like “Rocky” with a stared glance and with that way; you transmit a concentration that wreaked havoc for your opponent.
