Gladiator

Que Rafael nadal se haya convertido en Gladiator en el Foro Itálico repleto de romanos, una vez más rendidos a sus pies, es algo que los aficionados al tenis ya podíamos incluso esperarnos. Que el film favorito de Rafa es precisamente Gladiator, no es tan conocido, aunque sí imaginable por las semejanzas en sus actuaciones a Máximo Décimo Meridio. Pero que Nadal conseguiría igualar en coronas a los Oscars conseguidos por esta película, nada más y nada menos que cinco, era algo insospechable hace unos años. Además de igualar al film en cuanto a premio a mejor película (mejor final con Coria el año 2005, 5 h 14 min) y mejor actor ( mejor tenista en tierra batida).

Los triple “F” españoles: Ferrero, Ferrer y Fernando, se están convirtiendo por méritos más que propios en los terrícolas más en forma, siempre con el permiso de Rafa, de esta temporada; aunque Ferrero se ha descolgado en la gira europea de tierra, no hay que olvidar la gira sudamericana de este año, ganando en Brasil (ATP 250) a Ferrer en la final y perdiendo con él en la final de Buenos aires (ATP 500).

Que de los semifinalistas de los dos primeros ATP 1000 sobre tierra del año; Montecarlo y Roma, tres de ellos hayan sido los mismos (Nadal, Ferrer y Verdasco), demuestra el buen momento de estos jugadores españoles. Me alegro mucho por ellos. Felicitar también a Fernando por ganar el Godo (huérfano) 2010, y no olvidar las númerosas eliminatorias de Copa Davis en tierra vencidas por estos jugadores .

Tengo la esperanza de que en el único Grand Slam del año en arcilla, que ya está a la vuelta de la esquina, a Rafa le respeten las lesiones ahora que esta siguiendo el calendario muy a consciencia. También, que al gran jugador y, mejor persona David, no le traicionen los nervios, que aveces no controla dentro de la pista y que desvirtúan su calidad humana. Ojalá que el talentoso Fernando logre borrar las actitudes que provocan que el público le silbe, como en la final de Montecarlo y, solo suenen los aplausos que su tenis es capaz de generar. Si todo esto ocurre, hay muchas opciones de que este año estos jugadores, junto con Ferrero, se encuentren en las últimas rondas finales de Roland Garros. En breve lo descubriremos!

En otras ciudades nos encontramos con las jóvenes promesas batallando al margen del glamour, en Challengers y Futures. Antes de felicitar a los Active e Institucional Players Passion Talent Group “Guti” y Pablo Martin por sus victorias de la última semana, quiero nombrar a los fans de este blog Arnau Brugues y Roberto Bautista, por consolidarse en los Challengers. Ambos esta semana han llegado a cuartos de final en Manta y Ostrava respectivamente.

Como comprenderéis, la victoria de esta semana en el Future ATP de Vic de Sergio Gutierrez “Guti” me alegra mucho, ya que colaboro lo que puedo con él y su equipo, capitaneado por su Hermano Adolfo. Por lo poco que llevo colaborando con él, aunque desde hace tiempo hablamos bastante de tenis, os puedo garantizar que ama este deporte. Por ello me alegro más aun, cuando alguien que se desvive por su pasión, se re-encuentra con la victoria y con el camino a la zima.

Seguro que no ha sido una semana fácil para “Guti”, tanto por la dureza de los partidos como por la lucha que él hace consigo mismo, para superarse cada día mas y ser mejor jugador. Felicidades y a seguir creciendo como deportista. Vamos “Guti”!!!

Rafael Nadal has become a Gladiator in Italy where Romans once again gave themselves up to him. So it is something that tennis amateurs used to expect his wins. It is not known that Rafa’s favourite film is just Gladiator, although we can imagine it because he has some similarities in his actions to the Roman General Maximus Decimus Meridius. But it was something unsuspected a few years ago that Nadal made equal in crowns at the Oscars won by this movie, none other than five. In addition to match the film as a prize for the best movie (best final with Coria, 2005, 5h 14min) and the best actor (best player on clay).

The Spanish triple 'F': Ferrero, Ferrer and Fernando are becoming for their own merit on the top form clay’s specialists, but always with Rafa’s permission, relating to this season. Although Ferrero has broken away on the clay European tour, we do not have to forget the South American tour of this year, because he won in Brazil (ATP 250) against Ferrer in the final and he lost against him in the final of Buenos Aires (ATP 500).

These Spanish players are having a good spell, because they are the semifinalist of the first two ATP 1000 on clay in the year and three of them have been the same (Nadal, Ferrer and Verdasco) in Montecarlo and Rome. So, I'm happy for them. I also want to congratulate Fernando for winning the Godo (orphan) 2010, and we do not have to forget the numerous heat rounds of Davis Cup on clay beaten by these players.

I hope that in the only Grand Slam of the year on clay, which is just around the corner, Rafa will not have any injuries because he is following the schedule very consciousness. Also those nerves do not betray to David, the great player and nice person, which sometimes does not control into the court and adulterate his human qualities. I wish that the gifted Fernando managed to rub out the attitudes that cause the public whistle him, as it happened in the final of Montecarlo, and only applauses will sounds which his tennis is able to make. If this happens, there are many options this year that these players, together with Ferrero, are going to be in the last finals rounds of Roland Garros. We will find it out soon!

We are meeting in other cities with the young up-and-coming talents fighting outside the glamour in Challengers and Futures. Before congratulating the Active and Institutional Players Passion Talent Group ("Guti" and Pablo Martín for their winnings in the last week), I want to mention the fans of this blog (Arnau Brugues and Roberto Bautista), for becoming in the Challengers. This week, both of them have reached the quarterfinals in Manta and Ostrava.

As you know, I’m happy for the win of this week in Vic’s Future ATP of Sergio Gutierrez "Guti", because I collaborate with him and with his team as far as I can, captained by his brother Adolfo. I've been working too little time with him, but it is a long time ago that we talk about tennis. I can assure you that he loves this sport. So I am even more glad when someone are completely devoted to fight for his passion, he finds himself with the victory and with the path to reach the top.

I have no doubt that it has not been an easy week for "Guti", both the hardness of the matches to fight, as he does himself, for overcoming every day and becoming a better player. Congratulations and carry on growing as an athlete. Cheer up “Guti"!
