By Objectives Is The Future Of Sport

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday 12 February, 18: 45 in the afternoon. I´m with the former player passion talent group Agustín Boje in Murcia seeing Real Betis Balompié, the team that fills the heart of man from Utrera. He is really happy , as their team is losing 0/3. Something weird is happening (there are problems in the green and white team ,players are not getting their salaries; or at least, that is what we are assuming).

On the table the Spanish sportive journal MARCA. Standing out as one of the main news "Guardiola, Barcelona FC coach says, “I will receive half of my salary depending of results" and on the last page in the section "MARCA says" there is another opinion-new: "Salary for goals as Guardiola, said, is the future of the sport". Just I would like to comment that I find it regrettable that this is so evident that I could not understand this is no longer in operation, not only in football; but in all sport competition and what I¨m thinking also in all high-performance tennis centers mainly the one supported by Tennis Federations.

The aforementioned opinion-new says Guardiola contract should be the model towards which sport professional must go in the future to make it sustainable. Now, clubs whatever their speciality, are distressed by the massive payroll support. This, many times not comes accompanied by targets fixed in advance, so it is entering in a danger vicious circle. The club does not cover budget because it does not meet objectives, if it does not cover budget, players do not receive salaries if the players start having personal problems hardly found the appropriate climate to achieve the objectives. A few weeks ago in the first year FutureFuture I was talking to a group of my colleagues that are working in a high performance centre I explained to them very clear my point of view to this respect. "I think you should be all autonomous and have a contract linked to the Centre to which you work, always driven up to the results".

I Do not conceive working in tennis competition with absence of pressure which is nothing more and nothing less than the pure reality, in this case the athlete the tennis player or future tennis player (if he do not achieve his objectives the tennis ends for him). What better way than the coach or team that works with the player or players view with the same need to try by all means fulfill the objectives marked?

Taking advantage of that I am talking about goals, I would like tocongratulate Paul Carreño on his second victory achieved this year in FuturesFutures; on this occasion reached today Murcia. I want to highlight the good start year and professional relationship that Carreño and Javier Duarte are developing nothing more and nothing less than two Tournaments and a final. Also use to show my admiration to Duarte and more in this Post that we are talking about goals meaning successes or titles nothing more and nothing less than 34 titles ATP as a Coach (Corretja and Berasategui, Carlos Costa) and a Davis Cup as Captain.

And since I'm in Murcia is an obligation end this posts by mentioning the title managed today by Nicolás Almagro in Sauipe Coast ATP Brazil winning the final 6/3 7/6 against last Australia Open revelationthe Ukrainian Dolgopolov . Thistitle reached by Almagro in Brazil is his second got there as the first was in 2008. Congratulations Nico. I want to congratulate you and Murcia for many years organizing the month of February Futures ATP circuits as important as you well know for the development of professional players.

Novak Djokovic nuevo coleccionista / Novak Djokovic new collector

Hello again , sharing thoughts and feelings with all of you, I had already looking forward, just coming from the Airport leaving Sergio Gutiérrez "Guti" and his colleague of trainings Rafael Mazón who have been playing the third "Future" of Mallorca.

In Front of my house TV set ,enjoying the end of the first Grand Slam of the year the Australia Open ,between, Djokovic and Murray, Serbian has just won the first set 6/4, and attempting my blackberry because in Palma Nova now actually playing the final of the Future between the former player Passion Talent Group Pedro Clar and the young Pablo Carreño.

At the end of the post we will have a new Australia champion and also knowing who will be the more in shape player of the three Futures of 2011 in Mallorca Pedro played two finals and Pablo won one tournament.

The second set in Australia has been , see and not seen for Djokovic 6/2. Jordi Arrese is commenting the match at Eurosport alongside my friend Manolo Poyan, he things that the downturn of Murray is because the Andy physical conditions and the low percentage of first services, I do not share it entirely, I had the opportunity to work a few months at the lawn tennis association in London and I believe that precisely there, they works too much physical and players are protected a lot mentally, moving away them too fast from court, in that way players do not achieve what it is more difficult to afford of their tennis in court. I attribute this result to the good level of Djokovick and the mental weakness of the Scottish when things are distorted or complicated.

In respect to the question that many Spanish fans make, if there are succession in the Spanish tennis after Nadal, Ferrer, Almagro, Ferrero, Moya, Verdasco, Tommy Robredo, Highlander, López, Granollers, García, I think it exists, of course, another thing is that I do not share how things are already been doing to benefit this sequence, It will be as good as it could be and can match and even exceed the current, but now deepen this, could divert me to the theme of this post, I will leave it for another day.

I prefer to comment you how I have seen the mentioned succession in these first Futures of the year in Mallorca. Pablo Carreño (born 91) which goes 5-5 in the final is now disputing to Pedro Clar (born in 86) what I have seen very strong and winning games with authority beginning in the second Future Mallorca, witch won it, and for the time been remains unbeaten in his 10th game of the year. Javier Marti (born in 92) every time I meet him has taken a further step, I could see him winning the first week in the final to Pedro Clar in a nice and hard match, in the second Future he lost in quarter final with a young French that carried some years stuck, Eyserric, and this week I saw him with "Guti”, The French had lost but some hours before had recovered a match were he loosing 2/5 with Carlos Poch. I can see Pedro Clar playing very serious and in an aggressive way and 15 matches already played gives him a lot of confidence and also with a high danger, it must be remembered that in 2007, year in which Pedro progress his classification (1153 to 430 ATP) played 113 games, if he follows like today, will be the jumping on to consolidate in the Challengers.

Guillermo Olaso (born in 88) and "Guti" (born in 89) have begun the year playing Auckland and Australia disputing “Quali” and have come to play the third Future. I have seen them even better in their shots and in his physical shape but with lack of matches and when they add more matches high-level tournaments will be probably won by them. Carlos Boluda (born in 1993) and has also just been playing the third week, we must give her all the time in the world to go making his way in this marathon ATP much harder than people can imagine.

Other players who have been these weeks in Mallorca are Gerard Granollers (born 1988), Vivanco (born in 1990), Coll (born in 87 back after his surgery) should be kept in mind, anytime of the year we will talk about them. Later on there are those who have played senior tournaments this month of January as Riba, Ramos and Bautista (born in 1988), 70, 126, and 174 ATP and finally I also want to mention Cervantes (born in 89 Boje (born 1988) both recovering from injuries and shortly continue competing for their dreams.

6/3 Djokovic, Champion Australia 2011, a very good level from Novack, he recovers his number two in ATP and continues been a Grand Slams collector as Manolo Poyan said in Eurosport .
Congratulations Novack.

7/5 6/1 for Pedro Clar, Congratulations too to Pedro and Tomi Arias (coach) for the victory and for the great year beginning and also for the very good job done I remember a post some weeks ago where I stated the good season starting after a hard pre-season. I don´t want to forget Pere Joan March, the Pedro´s Physical trainer since 2006 a very good friend of mine the one I ever have learned something. No doubt Pedro is the more in shape player this year in Mallorca. Good luck!!!

Finishing I would like to encourage the professional players to be members of the “Association of Spanish Sportsmen", promoted and managed by Emilio Sanchez Vicario, former tennis player, and well known for everybody and besides more than when he was an active player. He is now involved in all the sportment community with his favourite sport. To be member of this association and be informed of the activities they perform please visit. www.asociaciondedeportistas.org. Emilio thanks for give as much as you can always.

Semana atípica pero rica / Atypical week but also rich

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After years of travelling and training without a break for Futures and Challengers, I can say that we’ve spent an atypical week or different for me.

I organised and attended a training course of level 4 (Basic Direction System) by the Tennis Professional Register given by Luis Mediero. The event was held at the Office/Shop of Punt tennis and, later, I’ve contrasted with the tennis situation in Barcelona with “Monty”, founder and promoter of MountyTour: the best private tennis circuit in Barcelona while were having a dinner. I also had the chance to visit my new home in Madrid: the city of the Racket. It is another sports club with futuristic essence and with a model of exemplary management and infrastructure perfectly adapted to the new requirements. So there, I could share a few hours of sitting around talking about tennis with Emilio Sánchez Vicario and Javier Martí “Koki”, one of the promoters of the modern club.

In the other hand, I had spent a great weekend in the junior ITF in Benicarló (Spain). I had enjoyed the up-and-coming talents and the treatment that this club gives to all its visitors; from the principal, called Ginés, to the tennis brothers of Valencia Vicente-Fibla and Pedro, the chef of the restaurant.

The first time I made the course of Level 4 of the RPT was in Madrid in 1994. It was taught by Luis Mediero and “Koki” Martí. I was stunned with the ideas that they had in their brains and what it is a reality nowadays, the RPT and the City of the Racket are not fruits of coincidence, but the brilliance of these people.

I decided (and I don’t regret at all) that during this month and a half I wouldn’t travel for thinking about how to improve my project. Also, I decided that it was a good moment to organize, for the first time in Balearic Islands, a special edition of level 4 RPT and, with this fact, facilitate those interested to know its contents. Now more than ever, with this crisis period, we have to bring up and how to solve it. And we will notice the result in the medium term.

I haven’t met with “Monty” since eight years ago. It was a pleasure for me to invite him to have dinner, because I knew that he was in Mallorca for a few days. I felt a great satisfaction one day when I was working in the LTA in London, when one of the hardworking coaches, Andrew (coach of two English up-and-coming talents girls of 16 years old), asked me for advice before taking his players to compete on the circuit “Montytour”. It was an honour for me when I asserted him that it was very positive.

With “Monty”, we analyze the situation of the national tennis with his vision and his experience as Montytour organizer for over ten years. I have to admit that I was quite worried about his evaluation, because he said me “Toni, people are leaving this sport when they’re younger”.

The exchange of opinions that I’ve maintained with Emilio Sánchez during more than two hours was an energy injection for fighting again to strengthen how it works a competitive group, because nowadays it has almost disappeared and we need it in the high performance level in our sport. Even with the future that tennis will have in our country. Thank you Emilio for show me your passion for tennis and for advising me selflessly with your experience as a player, coach, manager, commentator, captain, etc.

My short visit, but pleasant in the ITF Benicarló, confirmed me that one more time the fortune that we have in Spain and more in the areas of Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Madrid… where they have altruist people that give to this country a valuable chain of tournaments and junior circuits, ATP and WTA, Nike, Montytour, Marca, junior ITF, Futures, Challengers and Grand Prix. We hope that they remain forever.

I met my Balearic Islands countrymen in Benicarló. They were well led by one of my explayers in my time in the Balearic School: Pedro Villar. I have good memories of him and I like to remember events, exchange opinions and observe how to work. That Sunday, their players got a hat-trick, three victories from three matches. Carla Tur from Ibiza, Xesc Manresa from Mallorca and Sergio Martos from Menorca won their respective matches. When I called to congratulate him, I asked him where he was and he said me that he was training with his players. I said him to enjoy the day, because it’s not easy to repeat a three of three, and he answered me “I enjoyed it when I’m training”.

Before finishing with this post, I want to congratulate the up-and-coming Spanish talent, Pablo Carreño, for the great first quarter of the year. This week has won important matches and he have quitted in the final which ceded with the experienced Dani Muñoz. I could barely follow his matches although some of the Passion Talent Group Formers Players said me that he will be the revelation. Congratulations and good luck.

In this first week at the Miami Masters 1000, I thought that there would be no surprises or absentmindedness, but the current champion, Andy Murray, have defeated by Fish 6/4 6/4. Emilio had already said me that this tournament was uncomfortable for the favourites. So, this week, we have to enjoy this good tennis and this unexpected show.
